Hi and welcome to Trail Mix for the Sole! I’m glad you stumbled upon my website and I hope you continue to come back! What is Trail Mix for the Sole? Well let’s back up a bit. I’m Stephanie, the face of Trail Mix for the Sole and I’m a Registered Pediatric Dietitian who lives in Cincinnati, Ohio. It’s hard to believe that I’ve been a practicing dietitian for  5 years and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love all things food, nutrition and fitness. My passions have shaped the content that you will see on this page and I hope you learn something new along the way! I am a strong believer that food is medicine and we only have one body, so fuel it right!

I’ve been following a vegetarian diet for the past 10 years and I’ve enjoyed trying out new recipes and adapting them to my dietary lifestyle. All the recipes you will find on her are vegetarian friendly and sometimes even vegan. That being said, you don’t have to adapt to a vegetarian diet to make my recipes! Adaptions/substitutions are are always welcomed; in fact they are encouraged. My approach to cooking is simple: creating recipes based on what is in season, using common and affordable ingredients, and can be prepared from start to finish in less than 60 minutes. You’ll find that most of my ingredients include one of my favorite stores: Trader Joe’s! If you don’t have this food store, no problem! Most grocery stores carry the products I use on a regular basis. My hope of this blog is to not write a cookbook, but to share some of my own creations as well as recipes from some of my favorite food bloggers who have inspired me over the years! I want you to have fun in the kitchen, step out of your cooking comfort zone, and try (and maybe even enjoy!) some meatless meals.

When I’m not in the kitchen (or grocery shopping), you’ll find me running with my running buddies at Beyond Exercise.  I’ve ran 4 marathons and I’m looking for my next race! I’ll be sharing my tips and tricks on running, how to get started, and the importance of nutrition during training. Nutrition and fitness go hand and hand and I’m excited to have you along for the ride!
